You’ve Been Warned!

Check out this pair of warning signs, displayed back to back on a sturdy wood post near a popular southern Arizona trail head. Many thanks to “The Curmudgeon” for a hearty laugh, and thought provoking warnings.

Leaving the road head, this sign with its dire warnings is prominently displayed as you head into the back country:

Leaving the back country, as you approach the road head, this sign with its somewhat different set of dire warnings is prominently displayed on the back of the same sign post:

Was reading you blogs on the Az Trail, we will be hiking the Gial River – Picketpost section of the tral in next few weeks. You mentioned switching over to a pair of lightweight leather boots, looking for some myself and would like to know what boot it was that you found comfortable.

I used the Lowa Renegade. Lowa offers a wide width in this model which helped give me a great fit. The Az Trail has plenty of rough, rocky sections and for me the blend of support and weight in this boot worked really well. I appreciated the Goretex® lining while walking the snowdrifts on the North Rim, but found that my feet stayed wet with sweat on the warmer days. I’ll use ’em again.
